Wild Flowers

The Poitou-Charentes lies at the confluence of two mountain ranges (the Armorican and Central) and two basins (Paris and Aquitaine).

This particular geological setting creates a general geomorphology of plains and plateaus and a wide variety of soils. The coastal area has long rocky islands and bays with sediment and silt.

The climate of this region is oceanic, enjoying plenty of sunshine which means that it accommodates a remarkable array of southern plants such as the yellow Ophrys, the milky thistle as well as other Mediterranean species.
